Bentley Scores 6-3 Victory over Roberts Wesleyan

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Bentley University scored a 6-3 non-conference victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday in men's tennis action, played indoors at the Adirondack Club.

The Falcons led 2-1 after doubles. The wins came in the No. 1 match, from Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC), and in the No. 2 match from Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah). McCarthy and Samander were 9-7 winners, and Fuca and Gilman took their match 8-5.

Bentley was then victorious in four of six singles matches. The top three matches all went the distance, with Bentley winning one of them. That came from Samander in the No. 2 match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The Falcons' other three points in singles came in straight sets. Senior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) took the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-2. Gilman was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in the No. 5 match, and freshman Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) secured the No. 6 match by a 6-3, 7-5 score.

The win improved Bentley's overall record to 6-5 on the season. They'll return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday when they host Franklin Pierce.
