Bentley Cruises Past Webber International in Spring Break Opener

TAMPA, Fla. – The Bentley men's tennis team got its spring break trip off to a successful start on Sunday, as they brushed aside Webber International 9-0 in a non-conference match. Junior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) picked up wins in both singles and doubles on the day.

Samander got the day started by combining with freshman Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) for an 8-5 triumph in No. 2 doubles. In the other doubles match, Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) were 8-6 victors in the No. 1 spot.

In singles, Samander sewed up his 2nd victory of the day with a straight sets 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 2 match. Classmate Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) dropped just one game in the No. 1 singles match, as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex), a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the No. 3 match, and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah), a 6-2, 6-2 winner in the No. 4 match, also cruised to wins.

Nicolas Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) swept to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 match.

Bentley, now 3-4 on the season with today's win, will continue its spring break trip on Tuesday at Florida Tech.
