Bentley Moves Past Le Moyne 5-1 and Into Northeast-10 Semifinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-1 victory over Le Moyne on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) and freshman Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) were each involved in two victories.

Bentley, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, advances on to the semifinals on Friday where they will meet top-seed Southern New Hampshire.

The Falcons took a 2-1 lead from the doubles matches with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Rosa and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) topped Tyler Underwood and Jason Barton 8-6 in the No. 2 match. While Fuca and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) got the better of Stephane Legris and Ben Spoor 8-2 in the No. 3 match.

In singles play it was Rosa in No. 4, Fuca in No. 5 and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) in the No. 2 match that came up with the wins. Bentley consolidated its lead early on as Samander and Rosa won their matches within minutes of each other for a 4-1 advantage; Samander 6-1, 6-3 over Barton and Rosa 6-0, 6-2 over Legris.

Fuca then provided the clincher shortly after when he defeated Spoor 6-0, 6-3.

The win improved Bentley's overall record on the season to 16-6.
