Bentley Sweeps Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Opener

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley picked up a 9-0 shutout of Saint Anselm in the men's tennis team's Northeast-10 opener Tuesday afternoon. Three different players won in both singles and doubles.

Leading the charge for the Falcons was freshman Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), who won in both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He defeated Eric Howes 6-0, 6-1 in singles, and teamed with classmate George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) for an 8-0 victory in doubles. Samander bested Andrew Overton in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 for his second win of the day.

Sophomore Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) teamed with senior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) for an 8-3 victory in No. 2 doubles, and Rosa was also a 6-0, 6-2 winner in No. 2 singles for his second win of the afternoon.

After playing its only Northeast-10 match of the fall and improving to 1-0, Bentley next plays a non-conference match at home against Wentworth. That comes Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
