Bentley Closes Out Regular Season with 5-2 Victory over Adelphi

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's tennis team closed out the 2013-14 regular season by defeating Adelphi at home 5-2 on Senior Day.

The Falcons finish the regular season with an 8-2 NE-10 record, 10-7 overall, and will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship. They will host No. 6 Assumption on Tuesday, April 22. The Falcons defeated Assumption 5-4 back on March 19.

Seniors Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) and Andrew Waddington (Granby, Mass./Granby Memorial), both playing their final regular season home match at Bentley, were each winners in singles. Rindo defeated Sander Brenner 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 match, and Waddington bested Ryan Villarruel 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 match.

Sophomore Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) was Bentley's other winner in singles. He knocked off Sebastian Zapata 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2 match. The No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches did not finish, and Adelphi took the No. 6 match.

In doubles, Bentley was victorious in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Pilch and junior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) teamed to fell Zapata and Villarruel 8-4 in the top match. In the No. 3 match, it was sophomore Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) and freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) defeating Justin Vijungco and Chiwete Njokanma 8-5.
