Merrimack Takes Battle of Northeast-10 Unbeatens, 9-0 over Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – In a battle of the two unbeaten teams in Northeast-10 men's tennis, Merrimack emerged with a 9-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Bentley tennis courts.

Merrimack came into the afternoon 6-0 in the NE-10 and Bentley 7-0, but it was the visitors who ended the afternoon the NE-10's lone unbeaten squad.

They swept doubles play and went 6-0 in singles. Bentley took two singles matches to three sets. Senior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) took the first set against Matt Pronesti 7-6 in the No. 1 match. But Pronesti took the next two sets 6-0 and 10-8. In the No. 4 match, freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) dropped the first set against Vince Bellino 6-3, before grabbing the second set 6-4. However, Bellino took the deciding set 10-4.

Bentley will look to get back in the win column next Saturday at Southern New Hampshire.
