Bentley Tops Le Moyne 6-0, Improves to 3-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – As its fall season nears its close, the Bentley men's tennis team improved to 3-0 both overall and in Northeast-10 play on Saturday with a 6-0 victory over Le Moyne. The Falcons finish their fall schedule Sunday afternoon against Saint Michael's at 1:00 pm.

Bentley won all three doubles matches, including a come-from-behind win in the second-flight by sophomore Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) and junior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School). Going up against Alessandro Nieves and James Gayvert, they trailed 7-4, but the Falcons' pair won five of the final six matches to take the match 9-8. Senior Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) and freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) had a bit of an easier time of it in the first-flight, defeating Daryl Johnson and Shane Evans 8-5.

Singles play was highlighted by a come-from-behind win by senior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) in his top-flight match against Gayvert. The Le Moyne player won the first set 6-4, and was leading the second set 4-1. But Rindo won five straight games in the second set to take it 6-4, then won the third set 10-6 to give Bentley the point.

Waddington, a 6-2, 6-1 winner of Evans in the second-flight, and Pilch, a winner by the same score over Johnson in the third-flight, had straight sets wins.

The fourth-sixth flight singles matches were not completed.
