WALTHAM, Mass. – Four different players won in both singles and doubles as the Bentley University men's tennis team topped Franklin Pierce 8-1 Wednesday afternoon in its first Northeast-10 match of the season. The win was also the 100th of head coach Alex Wong's career coaching the men's team at Bentley.

Seniors Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) and Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial), freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) and sophomore Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) were the double winners for Bentley on the day.

After Bentley swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead, they won five of six singles matches.

Rindo was extended to three sets to beat Patrick Gilhuly in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Waddington defeated Chris Brewer in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0. While Rosa topped Mark Petrie in No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1, and Chomka defeated Drew Bennett in No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) also won in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Tyler Colombo.

The result gave Wong his 100th career win coaching the men's team at Bentley. Also the head coach of the women's team, he reached 100 last season.

Now 1-0 on the season, the Falcons return to the courts on Friday at Saint Anselm.
