Bentley Opens Season on Day 1 of ITA Men's Tennis East Regional
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Bentley University men's tennis team opened its season Saturday on day one of the 2013 ITA Men's Tennis East Regional in Philadelphia, competing in two singles and two doubles tournaments.
In the B singles tournament, sophomore Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) will face Southern New Hampshire's Evan Eaton in Sunday's round of 32 after receiving a bye in the first round. In the same draw, freshman Jerry Liang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai American School) will face New York Tech's Nicolas Jubera in the round of 32 after Liang won his first round match 8-0.
In the B doubles draw, Chomka and sophomore Felipe Palacios (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio Nueva Granada) won their first round match 8-4 over of the University of the District of Columbia's Carlos Quiroga and Drew Stewart. However, the pair was beaten in the round of 16 by Chris Casamissima and Ward of Philadelphia University 8-6.
Day two of the East Regional is Sunday.
