Homorodean Breaks Own Pool Record as Bentley Swims Past Pace, 187-94

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) broke the pool record for the second time in six days while helping the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team nearly double Pace University, 187-94, Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Bentley, which improved to 8-1, captured all 14 swimming events during the final home meet of the season. The only wins for Pace came in diving.

Homorodean swam the 100 yard butterfly in 51.19 seconds, improving on the mark he set last Sunday against Connecticut College by six-hundredths of a second. His day also included winning the 100 breaststroke in 59.37 and being part of the Falcons' winning 200 free relay, along with junior Tanner Fales (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) and a pair of sophomores, Oscar Chang (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS) and Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS).

Each of the above three also won an individual race. Chang took first in the 100 backstroke (55.62), Papsco reached the wall first in the 200 fly in 2:09.34 and Fales outswam the field in the 500 free, finishing in 4:57.51.

In addition to Homorodean, double-winners for Bentley were junior Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) and freshman Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif,/Clayton Valley HS). Bennice took first in the 200 free (1:47.71) and the 100 free (48.22) while Vizental captured the 200 breaststroke in 2:10.27 and the 400 individual medley (4:14.45).

Also posting individual wins for Bentley were sophomore Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) in the 1000 free (10:12.22), senior Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) in the 50 free (22.09) and junior Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./The Doane Stuart School) in the 200 back (2:01.89).

Bentley will wrap up its dual schedule Wednesday at Bridgewater State.
