In 1st Action of 2020, Bentley Men Sweep St. Michael’s for 39th Straight Victory

WALTHAM, Mass. – In the 2020 debut for the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team, senior Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./The Doane Stuart School) and sophomore Jeremy Glick (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) each won two individual events as the Falcons defeated St. Michael's College, 138-71, Wednesday afternoon at the Dana Center.

It was the 39th straight dual victory for the Falcons, who won every event and improved to 6-0 this season.

Sausto captured the two longest freestyle events with times of 10:01.86 in the 1,000 yard event and 4:45.86 in the 500.

Glick swept diving as he posted a 266.62 from the one-meter board and 242.69 from the three-meter.

Bentley finished the meet by setting a pool record in the 800 free relay, breaking a ten-year-old mark formerly held by Pace University by nearly seven seconds with a 7:07.54. Junior Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) swam the opening leg and was followed into the pool by senior Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./ University HS), freshman Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) and sophomore Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS).

Bennice, Zoda and Yoshihara were also among the individual winners for the Falcons. Zoda captured the 50 free in 21.57 seconds, Yoshihara was first to touch in the 200 backstroke (1:57.44) and Bennice prevailed in the 200 free (1:48.44).

The other individual winners for Bentley were sophomore Alec Lanza (Hartland, Wisc./ Arrowhead HS) in the 400 individual medley (4:21.77), sophomore Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) in the 200 butterfly (1:57.05), junior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) in the 100 free (48.40) and senior Sam Trozenski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon HS) in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.36).

Bentley's next meet is at home on Sunday against Connecticut College (1:00 pm).
