Bentley’s 37th Straight Win Features 2 Pool Records

WALTHAM, Mass. – A pool record was set, another was tied and freshman Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) was a triple-winner as the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team extended its dual winning streak with a 185-103 victory over Brandeis University in the Falcons' home opener in the Dana Center pool Friday night.

Bentley opened the meet by breaking a 13-year-old record in the 400 medley relay by 2.29 seconds. Sophomore Oscar Chang (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS) led off and was followed into the pool by classmate Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS), junior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) and sophomore Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) for a 3:32.77.

Later in the meet, Homorodean tied the pool record in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 51.44 seconds. The mark had been set by Chris Pai of Brandeis back in 2004.

Homorodean also took first in the 50 freestyle with his 21.48 the best by a Northeast-10 Conference swimmer so far this season. Other NE10 season bests were achieved by Zoda in the 100 free (47.19, 1st) and junior Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) in the 200 back (1:56.31, 1st).

Vizental's winning swims came in the 200 butterfly (1:58.85), the 200 breaststroke (2:14.46) and the 200 individual medley (2:01.78).

Senior Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./Doane Stuart School) swept the two longest freestyle races with times of 10:08.40 in the 1000 and 4:53.55 in the 500.

Other Bentley individual wins came from Zoda in the 200 free (1:44.94), Papsco in the 100 breast (59.95), sophomore Owen Busser (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) in the one-meter diving (218.62) and sophomore Jeremy Glick (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) in the three-meter diving (221.17).

Bentley, 4-0 this season, will be back in its home pool next Saturday against Keene State.
