Opening Day Victory Extends Winning Streak for Bentley Men to 34

NORTON, Mass. – Junior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) took first in three individual events and helped the Falcons win a relay as the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team launched their season with a 204-85 victory over Wheaton College Saturday afternoon at the Wheaton College pool.

Bentley, which won 13 of 16 events, extended its dual winning streak to 34 with the victory. The Falcons have been unbeaten each of the last three seasons.

The victories for Homorodean came in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.83), the 100 freestyle (48.03) and the 100 butterfly (51.32). He also was part of the 200 medley relay team that opened the meet with a winning time of 1:36.24. That relay also included senior Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and sophomores Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) and sophomore Oscar Chang (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS).

Zoda, last year's Northeast-10 Men's Rookie of the Year, posted two individual wins, with times of 1:44.12 in the 200 free and 21.76 in the 500 free, and was also part of the Falcons' winning 200 free relay team (1:26.78).

Other double-winners for Bentley were senior Dan Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./Doane Stuart School) in the 1000 free (9:55.66) and 500 free (4:52.76), sophomore Jeremy Glick (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) with a sweep of diving (214.73 three meter, 205.65 one meter) and freshman Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) (1:59.51 200 butterfly,

The other first-place finishes for Bentley came from sophomore Alec Lanza (Hartland, Wis./ Arrowhead HS) in the 200 breaststroke (2:!4.58) and senior Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) in the 200 backstroke (2:00.12).

Next weekend, Bentley will be in New York to take on Le Moyne on Saturday and Saint Rose on Sunday.
