Bentley Swims Past Bridgewater State, Completes 2nd Straight Undefeated Dual Season

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bentley University men's swimming team completed a second consecutive undefeated dual meet season and extended its winning streak to 23 with a 176-120 win over Bridgewater State University Wednesday evening at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

Coming off an 11-0 season a year ago, the Falcons captured nine of 16 events against the Bears to earn their tenth win this season.

Leading the way were a trio of double-winners: junior Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies), sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) and freshman Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS).

Elenio outswam the competition in the 1650 yard freestyle, finishing in 17:41.14, and was also the first to touch in the 200 butterfly (2:00.04). Yoshihara swept the backstroke events, swimming the 100 in 55.23 seconds and the 200 in 1:58.91.

Homorodean posted his best time of the season in winning the 100 free (48.89) and also took first in the 100 fly (54.39).

Bentley's other winners were sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) in the 200 free (1:50.88), senior Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia) in the one-meter diving (223.10) and freshman Tanner Fales (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) in the 500 free (5:05.18).

The defending Northeast-10 Conference champions will look to defend their title when the 2018 championships are contested Feb. 8-11 at WPI.
