Pace Spoils Bentley’s 2016 Men’s Swimming Debut

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Brian Sosa and freshman Nianzhong Liu each won three individual events to lead Pace University to a 167-127 victory over Bentley University in men's college swimming action Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Sosa was victorious in the 1000 yard freestyle, the 200 butterfly and the 200 backstroke while Liu recorded victories in the 50 free, 200 free and 200 breaststroke as the Setters took all 14 swimming events.

Both Bentley firsts came in diving with senior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) sweeping. He posted a score of 255.44 from the one-meter board and turned in a 239.84 in the three-meter competition.

Junior Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) recorded a pair of second-place finishes in individual events for Bentley as he recorded times of 49.43 in the 100 free and 2:03.94 in the 200 individual medley.

Other seconds for the Falcons were achieved by seniors Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) in the 200 free (1:49.35) and Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) in the 50 free (22.08), sophomore Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) in the 500 free (5:02.00), freshman Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) in the 200 butterfly (2:04.35) and a pair of divers, Gregory Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North HS) (192.75 on the one-meter) and Nick Cilia (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) (172.11, three meter).

Bentley, which fell to 3-4 after dropping its 2016 opener, will host St. Michael's Wednesday at 3 pm.
