NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) collected Bentley University's only gold medal of the meet with his performance during the three-day meet helping the Falcons place second in the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships which concluded Saturday night at Southern Connecticut State's Hutchison Natatorium.

Bentley, which began the day in third place, overtook Le Moyne College to finish second to Southern Connecticut in the seven-team event. Southern topped the scoring list with 855 points and the Falcons edged the Dolphins, 655-621.

Bury swam to victory in the 100 freestyle Saturday, with his time of 47.07 seconds taking 0.55 seconds off the school record Egen Ouellette set in 2010. He edged a pair of Pace University athletes, Kevin Dickson and Michael Fridman, by just 12 hundredths of a second to earn his first career gold.

Bury also helped Bentley to a school record in the 400 free relay with the Falcons finishing fourth in 3:11.74, taking 0.35 seconds off the previous mark. Preceding him into the pool were freshman Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS), senior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) and junior Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS).

Bury finished the championship with his name attached to five school records and with three bronze medals, in addition to the gold.

Bentley also received a school record and a bronze medal from freshman Tim Connolly (Dorchester, Mass./Boston Latin Academy) in the 200 backstroke. He posted a 1:55.13 in the finals after breaking the school standard in the prelims with a 1:54.56. Also in the 200 back, sophomore Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) and junior Chris Woods (Westfield, Mass./Westfield HS) were fifth and seventh, with times of 1:57.92 and 2:03.18.

Placing fourth for Bentley were sophomore Connor Mulvey-Hudson (Ardmore, Pa./St. Joseph Prep) in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.10) and freshman Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS) in the 200 butterfly (1:58.08).

Rounding out the list of A finals qualfiers for the Falcons were Sylvia and freshmen Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) and Kevin Diefenbach (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert HS). Karl was fifth in the 1650 free (17:06.32), Diefenbach followed in eighth (17:13.86) and Sylvia took eighth in the 100 free (48.76).
