Saint Rose Hands Bentley Men 1st Loss of Season, 195-99

TROY, N.Y. – Seniors Eric Howard and Joseph Krok each won three individual events as the College of Saint Rose handed the Bentley University Falcons their first loss of the season, 195-99, in men's college swimming action Sunday afternoon at the Robison Pool on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Bentley, which had entered the meet with a 6-0 dual record, won only three events against Saint Rose, including a sweep of the diving events by freshman Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS). He posting winning scorers of 233.10 off the one-meter board and turned in a 232.35 from the three-meter.

The Falcons' other first-place performance was posted by freshman Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS), with a time of 22.92 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle. He also had one of Bentley's seven second-place performances, which was achieved in the 100 free (50.40).

Recording two second-place finishes for Bentley were senior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./ Amity Regional HS) and freshman Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS). Champagne posted times of 5:09.48 in the 500 free and 10:39.95 in the 1,000, and Liulakis was the runner-up in both the 100 butterfly (57.82) and 200 fly (2:09.22).

Howard was first to the wall in the 100 backstroke, 200 back and 200 individual medley, and Krok put up winning performances in the 100 butterfly, 100 free and 200 free.

Bentley will look to get back on the winning track Wednesday night when it hosts Babson College (6 pm).
