Walsh, Go Post Victories for Bentley During NE-10 Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) captured both diving events and junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke to lead Bentley University during the Northeast-10 Invitational Sunday at the Dana Center.

Bentley finished in the middle of the five-team event with a score of 453 points. Southern Connecticut State had a meet-best 641 points, finishing 111 in front of the College of Saint Rose, and the field also included St. Michael's (197) and Pace (129).

Walsh, with a score of 231.05, finished first in the one-meter diving by 28.15 points over Matthew Annenberg of St. Michael's, and took the three-meter diving by 45.75 points, posting a 243.55.

Go edged Dan Healy (St. Michael's) by 0.44 seconds to win the 100 back in 56.30. He also helped the Falcons win the 200 medley relay, combining with senior Joe Frantel (Canandaigua, N.Y./Marcus Whitman HS), sophomore Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) and freshman Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) for a time of 1:40.79.

Go's day also included a third in the 100 butterfly (55.59) and being part of two second-place relays. He teamed with Chan, Frantel and sophomore Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) to finish the 200 free relay in 1:29.63, and joined with Witty, Chan and Sylvia for a 3:46.94 in the 400 medley.

Sylvia had Bentley's other second place finish, coming in behind Southern Connecticut's Miguel Nesrala in 22.40 seconds.

Witty was third in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events, with times of 57.27 and 2:06.56 respectively, and Chan was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.32). Also placing third was junior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) in the 500 free (5:07.69).

Bentley will complete the fall semester portion of the schedule Saturday with a home dual against Norwich University.
