Andrews Captures NEISDA One-Meter Championship for 3rd Time
WALTHAM, Mass. -- For the third time in four years, Bentley University senior Jon Andrews (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug Reg. HS) captured the one-meter championship as the diving portion of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships got under way at Bentley's Dana Center pool.
Andrews, previously the one-meter champ in 2008 and 2009, posted a winning effort of 423.00 points. That was nearly 66 points better than runner-up David Rhoden of Norwich University, but 17 shy of the mark needed to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships.
Bentley junior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) took fourth place, posting a score of 353.25.
The diving portion of the meet continues on Sunday with the three-meter competition.
