Bourgeois’ Strike Lifts Bentley over Saint Michael’s, 1-0

Waltham, Mass. – Freshman Harrison Bourgeois (Maynard, Mass./Maynard) scored the only goal in the 78th minute to lift the Bentley men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon.

The win lifts Bentley's NE10 record to 2-3-1 for 7 points, as the calendar will soon flip to October.

Bourgeois was involved in the build-up to the goal, winning a header in the middle of the field from goalkeeper David Price's (Needham, Mass./Beaver Country) boot down the field. Right back Connor Mote (Lisle, Ill./Benet) then gained possession and proceeded to make a run down the middle of the field to the edge of the 18 yard box, where he then threaded a through ball to Bourgeois on the left hand side. Bourgeois cut to his right, took a few dribbles and blasted a shot to the right top corner to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.

That was the only goal needed as Bentley closed out the final 12-plus minutes to secure the win.

Price made three saves in goal, while the Bentley defense limited the Purple Knights' offensive output. Bourgeois led the team with two shots on goal.

Bentley is now off until next Saturday, when they visit Franklin Pierce.
