NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – 8th ranked Merrimack continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 4-0 victory over visiting Bentley on Wednesday night in a Northeast-10 match. Sophomore back Mattia Lanzi had two goals for the Warriors.
Merrimack jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on a goal by midfielder Lars Sund, assisted by senior Augusto Silva. Just over two minutes later. Just over two minutes later, Silva set up the second goal after sending a cross into the box that Lanzi one-timed for the goal.
Silva picked up his third assist of the night in the 71st minute after he made a run down the right wing and sent a cross into the box that Jaime Torres tapped in for the goal. Lanzi then added his second goal of the game in the 82nd minute on a free kick.
For Bentley, senior midfielder Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin) had two of the team's three shots on goal.
Bentley (2-4, 1-2 NE-10) returns home on Saturday when they host Stonehill for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
