Bentley Roars Past Caldwell in 2nd Half to Claim 3-1 Win

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Second half strikes from senior Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y./CBA) and freshman Evan Ryan (Cornwall, Vt./Middlebury Union) saw the Bentley men's soccer team overcome an early 1-0 deficit to claim a 3-1 non-conference victory over Caldwell in North Andover on Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons fell behind after just four minutes on a goal from Patrick Grey to get into an early hole, but they recovered with three unanswered goals to improve their record to 1-1 on the season.

Senior Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin) got the rally started with a goal in the 15th minute after he headed in a corner kick from Jose Tirado (Lima, Peru) to level the score 1-1. The score stayed that way into the second half.

Hoffman was involved in the second goal, getting the secondary assist on Marty Ryan's goal in the 58th minute to put Bentley up 2-1. Ryan finished the play off with a strike from 10 yards away after taking a pass from Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton).

Evan Ryan added to the lead in the 78th minute with his first career goal after he buried a rebound let loose by Caldwell keeper Michael Hartmann.

Falcons goalie Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas) made three saves to earn the win.

Now 1-1 on the season, Bentley is back in action on Wednesday when they visit New York Tech.
