LOWELL, Mass. – No. 8 UMass-Lowell scored twice in the first 17 minutes on its way to a 3-0 victory over visiting Bentley Tuesday night in Northeast-10 men's soccer.
The River Hawks improve to 6-0 in the NE-10 with the win and 7-0-1 overall, while the Falcons drop to 4-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.
UML jumped out in front in the 7th minute on a goal by junior Kevin Zapata after a scramble in front of the net for a loose ball. The hosts went up 2-0 in the 17th minute on a shot from 30 yards out by sophomore Homero Morals after a centering pass from Bruno Bonicontro.
With Bentley unable to breach Lowell's net to get closer, Morais netted his second of the night in the 89th minute to go up 3-0. The goals were the sixth and seventh of his season.
The Falcons will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they host New Haven at 1:00 p.m.
