Bentley Scores 18-8 Win over AIC in Regular Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Three different players had a hat trick as the Bentley men's lacrosse team scored an 18-8 victory over AIC in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin), Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) and Cam Christenson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) each had three goals to lead the offense, while goalie Sean Bennett (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) made 12 saves to earn the win.

The Falcons raced out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and led 7-0 early in the second quarter. The defense kept AIC off the scoreboard until just past the six minute mark of the second quarter.

Sanford had a hat trick, with a man-up goal included, as part of the first quarter blitz. Astarita had two goals in the quarter, and Christenson scored as well.

In the second quarter, Astarita netted his third of the afternoon, and Timmy Day (Westfield, N.J./St. Joseph) and Kris Campbell (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) found the back of the net as well, as Bentley led 9-3 at halftime.

Bentley continued to pile up goals in the third quarter as they struck five times to lead 14-4 after three quarters. Christenson scored twice in the quarter, and senior Joe DiRaimo (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn) also was on target.

The Falcons finished it off in the fourth quarter with four goals, which included a man-up goal from senior Ryan Donovan ().

Bentley closed out its season with a 5-8 overall record and 4-7 NE10.
