No. 2 Le Moyne Stays Unbeaten with 18-7 Win over Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 2 ranked Le Moyne improved to 5-0 on the season with an 18-7 victory over the Bentley men's lacrosse team on Saturday in the first Northeast-10 game of the season for both squads.

Juniors Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) and Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) paced the Bentley offense with three goals and two goals each.

Overall shots and shots on goal for the game were close, with the Dolphins holding a just a one shot edge in each category, at 36-35 and 24-23. Le Moyne goalie Jack Sweeney made 15 saves to earn the win.

Le Moyne started the game fast with four goals in under five minutes, before Hurley got the Falcons on the board. Senior Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) had a man-up goal for Bentley, but Le Moyne still led 8-2 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Astarita had two goals for Bentley, including one man-up, but Le Moyne led it 11-5 at halftime.

Astarita started the third quarter with a man-up goal at the 11:42 mark to cut the deficit to 11-6, but Bentley wouldn't score again until Hurley in the fourth quarter as Le Moyne as able to pull away.

The Falcons' record fell to 1-2 on the season. They'll look to bounce back next Saturday when they visit Saint Rose.
