WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley gave No. 3 ranked Adelphi everything it could handle, but the Panthers won a hard-fought contest in overtime 13-12 on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 matchup.

The Falcons trailed 9-4 at halftime, but outscored Adelphi 8-3 in the second half. A goal by junior Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) capped a 5-0 run and gave them their first lead of the game at 12-11 with 5:14 remaining in the 4^th quarter. But Adelphi tied it with 2:52 left in regulation on a goal by Shane Deboer.

Both teams each had a final possession in regulation. Bentley had it first after Max Adler (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Northfield Mt. Hermon) won the face-off after Deboer's goal, but the possession ended in a turnover. Adelphi had two shots on their final possession, which included a shot by Ian Kirby with one second left that was saved by Falcons goalie Robert Hamerman (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset).

Adelphi won the face-off to start overtime, and never lost the ball as Gordon Purdie Jr. scored 1:25 in, on the only shot of the extra session.

Hamerman was outstanding in goal for Bentley with 11 saves in just over 46 minutes of action.

Bentley started the third period on fire with two goals in the opening 57 seconds to cut Adelphi's lead to just 9-6. Adler scored right after winning the opening face-off, and a goal by sophomore Scott Carvalho (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) followed shortly after.

The Panthers would score two of the next three goals. A goal by Chris Racalbuto gave them an 11-7 lead with 7:40 left in the third, but that was their last goal until Deboer's tying goal late in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) scored, and a man-up goal by Sanford with six seconds left cut Adelphi's lead to 11-9 to start the final quarter.

To start the fourth quarter, senior Eli Morrissey (Rowley, Mass./The Governor's Academy) scored just 10 seconds in to make it a one goal game. That was his second goal of the afternoon. Hurley then scored unassisted at 9:49 to tie the game 11-11, and Sanford's goal at 5:14 gave them the lead for the first time at 12-11.

Adler led all players with nine ground balls, and Morrissey was a force as well with seven, in addition to his two goals.
