Bentley Flies Past AIC 12-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team led from start to finish in a 12-2 road victory over American International on Friday night in a Northeast-10 matchup. It's Falcons' 2nd straight win, and improves their record to 4-1 in the NE-10.

Bentley was in control throughout, and didn't allow a goal for the first 43-plus minutes, deep into the 3rd quarter. Sophomore attack Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) had three goals and one assist, while Chris Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) and Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) added two goals to lead the offense.

Leading 3-0 after the first quarter on goals by Sanford, Wiggins and Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), Bentley did its most damage in the 2nd quarter with five goals. Three goals came in the final 1:44; from senior Matt Brigham (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) and Sanford with 26 seconds left and John Wheeler (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) just seven seconds later off the ensuing face-off win.

Wiggins and Sanford had goals in the 3rd quarter, and Shaun O'Hare (Tyngsboro, Mass./The Rivers School) and Joe DiRaimo (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn) tacked on goals in the 4th.

Now 5-2 overall, Bentley is next in action on Tuesday night at Saint Rose.
