OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Bentley opened its 2015 season on Sunday at snowy NYIT, and suffered an 18-6 setback in a non-conference men's lacrosse game. Six different players found the back of the net for Bentley.
Sophomore attack John Wheeler (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) opened the scoring for Bentley in the third quarter.
Bentley then struck five times in the fourth quarter, starting with a goal from freshman Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) just 14 seconds in. After an NYIT goal, Bentley ripped off three consecutive goals. Senior Mike Giorgetti (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) had the first goal of the run at the 10:17 mark, followed by strikes from freshman Joe DiRaimo (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn) and senior Cutler Dimond (Marblehead, Mass./Tabor Academy).
Senior Bobby Hinds (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) had Bentley's final goal of the afternoon.
The Falcons return to action on March 11 when they visit the University of the District of Columbia in the nation's capital.
