PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Bentley University staged a fourth quarter rally from four goals down against Pace on Saturday afternoon, but could not complete the comeback and was beaten by the Setters 9-6 in Northeast-10 men's lacrosse.

The Falcons, who trailed 4-1 at halftime and 6-2 at one point in the third quarter, fell behind 7-3 after Pace's William Scioscia scored just eight seconds into the fourth quarter.

But Bentley's fight back began with a goal from sophomore Brendan Murphy (Wilmington, Mass./Middlesex School) at the 11:17 mark. Just 52 seconds later freshman Jon Blaisdell (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) made it 7-5, and junior Jason Knight (Portland, Maine/Portland) made it a 7-6 game with 8:37 to play.

But the Setters did not allow another goal the rest of the way, and pulled away with goals from Scioscia at 7:05 and senior attack Matt Mirabito at 2:41.

The Falcons, who have a six game winning streak over Pace snapped, drop to 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in the NE-10. The Setters go to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the NE-10.

Bentley was down 1-0 after the first quarter, and trailed 3-0 before netting its first goal of the game from senior Tim Matheson (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) with 2:26 remaining in the first half. But Pace scored a big goal with just 19 seconds left in the half from junior attack Matt Gebhardt, with Mirabito on the assist, to go into the locker rooms up 4-1.

Matheson scored two more goals for Bentley in the third quarter to give him a career high three goals, but they were cancelled out by Pace goals from Gebhardt and Mirabito.

Both Mirabito (3 goals, 2 assists) and Gebhardt (2 goals, 3 assists) led the Pace offense with five points, while freshman goalie Conor Brophy made 19 saves.

Bentley will look to get back on track when they host Saint Michael's Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
