Falcons Take Third Straight, 10-5 over Saint Anselm
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team won its third straight game Tuesday night, beating Saint Anselm 10-5 in a Northeast-10 matchup. Senior Matt Boilard (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) led the offense with three goals and one assist.
Bentley led from nearly start to finish, improving its record to 3-3 after a 0-3 start, and to 3-1 in the NE-10. The loss sends Saint Anselm to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Senior Dante Mancini (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) scored the first goal of the game 4:53 in, and Boilard scored his first of the game with 2:28 left in the first quarter for the only two goals of the quarter.
Bentley led 4-0 more than halfway into the second quarter before the Hawks got on the board, courtesy of freshman Jake Mallinson. Sophomore Dan Keefer (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) scored with 3:03 left before halftime to give the Falcons a 5-1 advantage at the break.
Bentley padded its lead in the third quarter with goals from Boilard, senior Mike MacDonald (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) and junior Richard Travers (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) to lead 8-2 at the end of three.
Boilard scored a man-up goal in the fourth and junior Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) added one to go along with his three assists.
Bentley won the ground ball battle 37-27, and freshman defenseman Tim Cobb (Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy) had a big game with four caused turnovers.
The Falcons will go for four straight Sunday afternoon at Dowling in their final non-conference tilt of the year.
