Bentley Blanks Brown 1-0 Behind Kirk’s Shutout

Waltham, Mass.- Sophomore goalie Fraser Kirk (Burlington, Ontario) made 16 saves and freshman Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 victory for Bentley over Brown on Tuesday night.

The Falcons' defense limited Brown to just 16 shots on goal on the night, and Kirk stopped them all for his first career shutout in just his 3rd career start.

Gosiewski netted the game's only goal, 4:19 into the second period, on the power play for his 4th goal of the season. A shot on goal by defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.) from the right face-off circle that was saved by Brown's goalie Luke Kania created the initial pressure.

Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) dug the puck out to keep the pressure on and passed back to Brassard, who this time passed across to Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec). Desbiens fired a low shot that Kania made a glove save on, but Gosiewski was there on the doorstep to put the rebound in for the goal.

That was the only goal Kirk needed as he didn't let anything past. He made seven saves in the 2nd period and six in the 3rd frame.

Brown pulled Kania for an extra attacker with just over two minutes remaining, but Bentley allowed just one shot on goal.

The Falcons will now take a short break for Thanksgiving, before they return to the ice on Friday to begin a home and home series with Holy Cross. The first game is on the road on Friday, and the series shifts to Waltham on Saturday.
