Robert Morris Edges Bentley 4-2 in Series Finale

Waltham, Mass. – Robert Morris scored three goals in the third period to take a 4-2 victory over the Bentley hockey team on Saturday night.

A 1-1 game after two periods, the Colonials scored twice in the second half of the third period to take a 3-1 lead. Bentley's Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) pulled a goal back with 3:09 remaining, but RMU scored an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal it.

RMU got the go ahead goal from right winger Santeri Hartikainen at the 10:04 mark to take a 2-1 lead. The third goal for the Colonials came on the power play to finally break through a strong Bentley penalty kill that to that point was a perfect 8-8 on the night.

The goal was scored by center Aidan Spellacy at the 16:03 mark.

Just 48 seconds later though and still shorthanded, Bentley made it a one goal game again as the freshman Gosiewski netted his 3rd goal of the season and 2nd of the series. A shot from the left wing went through the legs of RMU goalie Justin Kapelmaster as Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn.) created traffic in front. Gorowsky and defenseman Brett Orr (Elkhorn, Manitoba) had the assists.

Bentley though still had to kill off the remaining penalty, and that did not leave much time to get the extra-attacker on, which came with just 31 seconds left. RMU's Michael Coyne was able to score an empty-netter with two seconds remaining to seal the win.

Neither team scored in the 1st period, and each team scored once in the 2nd period. RMU's Jacob Coleman scored 1:55 into the period, and Bentley's Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.) netted a power play goal at 16:31 with a shot from the point that rung in off the post.

Kapelmaster earned the win in goal for the Colonials, and Bentley's Fraser Kirk (Burlington, Ontario) made 20 saves.

The Falcons will be back on the ice on Tuesday the 26th to host Brown at Bentley Arena.
