St. Lawrence Tops Bentley 3-0 in First Ever Meeting

Waltham, Mass. – St. Lawrence snapped Bentley's two game winning run on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory over the Falcons at Bentley Arena.

The Saints (2-3-1), out of the ECAC, scored once in the first period and twice in the second frame.

Bentley had an early opportunity with a five minute major penalty given against the Saints just 4:22 into the game but could not convert. St. Lawrence then took the lead on sophomore left wing Zach Risteau's goal at 10:07 as he scored on the rebound off a shot by right wing Jordan Steinmetz.

The Saints struck twice in the 2nd period. A shot by junior Keenan Suthers was originally ruled out, but at the next whistle the play was reviewed and the goal given at 9:18 for a 2-0 Saints lead. A power play goal by right wing Kaden Pickering off a one-timer from defenseman Bo Hanson at 14:05 was the final goal of the game.

Falcons sophomore goalie Fraser Kirk (Burlington, Ontario) came on in the 3rd period for his first career appearance and made nine saves.

Prior to the game, the Bentley celebrated Senior Night for the eight-student athletes in its senior class of 2020; Connor Brassard, Jonathan Desbiens, Jake and Sam Kauppila, Aidan Pelino, Matt Riggleman, and captains Ryner Gorowsky and Brett Orr.

Bentley (2-3-0) will look to bounce back next weekend when they host Mercyhurst at Bentley Arena. Both games on Friday and Saturday night begin at 7:05 pm.
