Santerno Named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – A goal in each game last weekend helped Bentley's Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) claim Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week honors.

In Saturday's 3-2 win over Canisius, Santerno scored just 28 seconds into the second period to give Bentley a 3-2 lead. He also scored a power play goal in the second period of Friday's game to give him two total goals for the weekend.

Santerno now has four goals in Bentley's last three games after he had two goals in the Falcons' 3-3 tie with Robert Morris on January 20. Included in that was the tying goal with 1:21 left in regulation to force overtime.

The B.C., native has been having an impactful freshman season for Bentley thus far. He's tied for the team lead in both goals (9) and points (21), to go along with 12 assists. He currently leads all Atlantic Hockey freshman in points, and nationally is averaging the 7th most points per game among freshman (0.84).

He was previously named Atlantic Hockey's Rookie of the Month for December after he had two goals and four assists in three Bentley wins that month.

Santerno and the Falcons are back on the ice this weekend when they visit RIT for a series that gets underway on Friday night.
