Pelino & Santerno Earn Atlantic Hockey Awards for December

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) and Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) have claimed Atlantic Hockey awards for December, the conference announced on Thursday. Pelino was named Goalie of the Month, and Santerno the Rookie of the Month.

Both student-athletes had big roles in the Falcons winning all three of their games in December, which extended their winning streak to six games. That streak is the third longest in the nation, behind only Notre Dame and Clarkson. Bentley defeated Atlantic Hockey rival AIC, and ECAC teams Brown and Dartmouth in December.

Pelino won all three games in net, and made 30-plus saves in each game. He made 31 saves each against AIC and Brown, and 30 against Dartmouth. In the three games combined, he posted a  133 goals against average and a .958 save percentage, both tops in the league for the month of December.

Pelino has started all six games for Bentley during the winning streak, and has been lights out. He has a .947 save percentage and 1.65 GAA during the streak, which started with a sweep of Robert Morris the weekend of Nov. 24, and also featured a win over Hockey East's UMass-Lowell on Nov. 28.

Santerno led Bentley in scoring in December with six points, on two goals and four assists. He began the month with a goal and two assists in Bentley's 6-2 win over AIC, then had an assist and finished plus-one against Brown and had a goal and an assist, while finishing plus-two, against Dartmouth.

The B.C. native has three goals and six assists in the last six games. He's tied for the team lead with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists), with Kyle Schmidt and Matt Riggleman.

Bentley will look to make it seven wins in a row on Friday night when they host Northeastern at the JAR.
