WATERTOWN, Mass. – Sophomore goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) made 31 saves, and three different players scored goals, as Bentley University defeated Robert Morris 3-1 on Friday night at the JAR.

Bentley got on the board first at 7:08 of the first period with a power play goal from defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.). Brassard blasted a slap shot from the top of the right face-off circle that beat RMU goalie Francis Marotte to the top corner of his glove side, but appeared to go wide of the net. Play actually continued on for about a minute or so, but when the whistle was blown, the referees reviewed the play. It was determined that the puck actually went through the top corner net and the goal was given.

Towards the end of the period, Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc.) struck on the power play to give Bentley a 2-0 lead with 2:22 remaining in the period. Off a face-off win by freshman Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) in the offensive zone, the goal was created. Senior Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) dug the puck out from behind the net, and fed Callin a pass in the left face-off circle. Callin then snapped off a shot that got past Marotte for the 2-0 Bentley lead.

Neither team scored in the 2^nd period that saw Pelino make 12 saves, and Marotte 10. RMU had the only power play of the period at 1:39, which Bentley killed off.

In the 3^rd period, sophomore winger Matt Riggleman (Milford, Mich.) gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead at the 3:54 mark. Callin brought the puck into the offensive zone an fed a pass to his left to Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn.). Gorowsky then fed a pass over to Riggleman on the right hand side, who snapped off a low shot that beat Marotte to his glove side.

A little over a minute after Riggleman's goal, Bentley was called for two penalties 13 seconds apart to give RMU a five-on-three power play. The Colonials took advantage 24 seconds into the two-man power play, as right wing Michael Louria blasted in a slap shot, for the only time Pelino was beaten all night.

As RMU failed to get any closer over the remainder of the period, they pulled Marotte with 2:22 remaining for an extra-attacker, but the Falcons held firm and saw the game out for a 3-1 victory.

Pelino finished the night with 31 saves for the win, while Callin and Gorowsky each had two points. Callin on one goal and one assist, and Gorowsky on two assists.

Bentley will go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon, with a 4:05 puck drop.
