WATERTOWN, Mass. – Bentley closed to within two goals in the 3^rd period, but RIT hung on to claim a 6-3 victory over the Falcons in Atlantic Hockey action at the JAR on Saturday night.

RIT entered the 3^rd period leading 5-1, but two quick goals by the Falcons got them back in it. Left winger Andrew McDonald (New Brighton, Minn./Fargo) scored just 2:33 in to cut the deficit to 5-2. Senior Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo) got the play started with a shot on goal from close range that RIT goalie Mike Rotolo saved. McDonald was then there on the doorstep to knock in the rebound.

Less than two minutes later, it was Deresky that found the back of the net. Freshman defenseman Tanner Salsberry (Cypress, Texas/Jersey), playing in his first career game, helped set the goal up with a shot from the point that was saved by Rotolo, and Deresky drilled in the rebound to cut the deficit to 5-3.

That's as close as Bentley could get though. The Tigers scored an empty net goal from Erik Brown with eight seconds left to provide the final 6-3 margin.

RIT got off to a fast start and led 3-0 after the first period, with two of their goals coming shorthanded. The 3^rd goal came with just six seconds left in the period, and was the second consecutive scored by center Myles Powell.

After the intermission though, Bentley got on the scoreboard just 35 seconds into the 2^nd period on a goal by sophomore center Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc./Janesville). Off a face-off win by Callin in the Bentley offensive zone, defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass./Jersey) took a shot on net from behind the face-off circle. Callin had cycled to the front of the net, and got his stick on Brassard's shot and tipped it under Rotolo for the goal.

RIT though would finish the period strong, as they scored twice in a 28 second span. The first goal came from center Gabe Valenzuela at 17:26, and was followed by a Liam Kerins goal at 17:54.

The Falcons fall to 2-4-1 on the season and 1-3 in Atlantic Hockey games. They're back on the ice on Nov. 8 at AIC.
