French Voted to CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 At-Large Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University hockey player Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna Warriors) has been voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Men's At-Large team for Division 1.

The men's at-large program includes student-athletes competing in the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wresting. For Division I, District 1 includes student-athletes attending schools in the six New England states and New York. A total of just 10 student-athletes from Division I in the district were selected.

French had a standout junior season for the Falcons that saw him finish the season ranked 4th nationally in points per game (1.47). He racked up a total of 47 points, on 23 goals and 24 assists, in just 32 games.

In Atlantic Hockey, French finished the season 3rd in the conference in both total points and goals, and 8th in assists. Those lofty numbers earned him a first team All-Atlantic Hockey spot. He was twice named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week (Nov. 3, Nov. 17) and an NCAA Star of the Week once (Nov. 3), while also being on the fan ballot for the Hobey Baker Award.

Off the ice, French maintained a 3.80 GPA during the 2015-16 academic year. He is a corporate finance and accounting major. He's been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team in each of his first two seasons.

French's selection marks the 3rd straight year a Bentley hockey player is an At-Large District 1 honoree, after former teammate Andrew Gladiuk was voted on for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. French is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, which will be selected later in the month.
