Bentley Skates to 2-2 Tie With Army; Will Host Sacred Heart Next Weekend

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Bentley and Army skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday night at the JAR in the regular season finale. That result means Bentley will host Sacred Heart next weekend in a best of three first round series starting Friday night.

The result moves Bentley's Atlantic Hockey record at the end of the season to 9-13-6. In two games this season Bentley took a win and tie over Sacred Heart. On Jan. 29 the Falcons won 4-2 and the next night they tied 3-3.

Army struck first 4:30 into the contest on a goal by center Clint Carlisle off a bad hop in front of goalie Gabe Antoni (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield), who finished the night with 27 saves.

Bentley though got one back a little under four minutes later from freshman Andy Chugg (Mesa, Ariz/Surrey), who beat Black Knights goalie Parker Gahagen to the glove side after taking a pass from line mate Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia/Lone Star). That tied the score 1-1 at the 8:02 mark.

Bentley then went ahead 2-1 as Solovyev was involved again, this time getting the goal at 13:04. Center Tyler Krause (Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) skated into the offensive zone and played a pass off to Solovyev, who fired past Gahagen in the slot for his first career goal.

Army controlled the 2nd period with a 13-6 advantage in shots, and got the tying goal from center Shane Hearn at 15:16, which sent the game tied into the final period.

The Falcons fought back and dominated the 3rd period to the tune of a 15-6 shots advantage, but Gahagen stopped them all as part of a 35 save night.

Bentley had a 2-1 shots advantage in OT, coming from Matt Sieckhaus (Fenton, Mo./Amarillo) and defenseman Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba/Portage), whose shot hit the post.

Bentley and Sacred Heart last played in the postseason in the 2012 first round, a series Bentley won two games to one.
