Bentley-Sacred Heart Set to Clash in Atlantic Hockey Series

Game Notes

The Matchup: For the first time this season Bentley and Sacred Heart will take the ice, with a weekend series between the two at the JAR set to begin Friday night at 7:05. Saturday's tilt gets underway at the same time. Both games can be seen live and in HD on EverSport.

Bentley (7-9-3 AHC) is coming off a three point weekend vs. AIC and enters the weekend in 8th place in Atlantic Hockey with 17 points, three points out of the top-five and six points out of the top-four. Sacred Heart (8-10-2 AHC) is coming off a Tuesday night win at UConn and over the weekend was swept at home by RIT. They enter the weekend in 7th place with 18 points.

Three With 25+ Points: Forwards Max French, Andrew Gladiuk and Kyle Schmidt have each exceeded 25 points this season, with French at 34, Schmidt at 28 and Gladiuk 27. That makes Bentley one of seven teams nationally to have three players with 25+ points. The others are Boston College, Michigan, Quinnipiac, North Dakota, Robert Morris and St. Cloud State.

Bentley's trio are each in the top-10 of Atlantic Hockey in goals, assists and points. French (16-18-34) is T-4th in goals and assists and 4th in points. Schmidt (11-17-28) is T-10th in goals, T-6th in assists and 8th in points. While Gladiuk (11-16-27) is T-10th in goals and assists and T-9th in points.

In addition to his Atlantic Hockey rankings, the junior is 4th nationally in points per game with an average of 1.62.

Gladiuk Collects Honors: Gladiuk was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week and the NCAA 2nd Star of the Week on Tuesday. In the AIC series he had 4 goals and 3 assists, including his 3rd career hat trick in Friday's 6-1 win. His other two hat tricks were in this season's 3-2 win at Northeastern (Oct. 16) and last season in a 5-4 win over Mercyhurst.

It's the 3rd time this season a Bentley player has been named an NCAA Star of the Week. The other two times were Gladiuk on Oct. 20 and French on Nov. 3.

The left winger now has 66 career goals and 135 career points, which puts him in 2nd in both categories on the program's Division I list. Among active NCAA players, he's 2nd in goals, 3rd in points and 1st in power play goals (31).

Blomquist Moves Up: Defenseman Matt Blomquist had three assists in Friday's 6-1 win over AIC. The senior blue liner now has 74 career points (12g, 64a), which is 3rd most in program history among defenseman, behind Steve Tobio (120) and Steve Weinstein (104).

Series History: Sacred Heart leads the all-time series 28-24-5. The teams split four games last season, with each winning once at home and on the road. The last 10 games at the JAR have Bentley ahead 5-4-1. Gladiuk leads all active players in scoring against the Pioneers with a 7-4-11 line in 10 games.

Up Next: Bentley heads out on the road next weekend for a two game set at Mercyhurst as the Falcons seek revenge after the Lakers won both games at the JAR on this season's opening weekend. Bentley swept a series in Erie last season, including a 4-3 win that saw them rally from 3-0 down after just over 11 minutes of the 1st period, and Schmidt scoring the winner with 16 seconds left in regulation.
