Game Notes

The Matchup: After a Tuesday night home victory over AIC, the Bentley hockey team heads back on the road this weekend to take on the Niagara Purple Eagles for a two game Atlantic Hockey series. Both games Friday and Saturday night can be seen live on EverSport.

The Falcons improved to 4-2-1 in Atlantic Hockey games with Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Yellow Jackets. That moved the team up to a tie for 4^th place in Atlantic Hockey with 9 points, with as many as three games in-hand on the teams above them.

This series will mark Bentley's first visit to Niagara's Dwyer Arena since the 2012-13 season. Each series the last two seasons as been played at the JAR.

Las Time Out: Bentley recorded a 1-0 shutout over AIC at the JAR Tuesday night. Senior goalie Gabe Antoni made 30 saves for his first career shutout, while senior Andrew Gladiuk scored the game's only goal just 3:07 into the contest. Max French had the primary assist after his initial shot on goal was saved as Gladiuk fired in the rebound. Kyle Schmidt also had an assist as well. That was the 14^th point of the season for both French and Schmidt as they remained tied for the team lead in points.

Antoni Posts Shutout: Tuesday's shutout was the team's first since a 1-0 victory at Robert Morris on Jan. 10 of last season as Jayson Argue made 29 saves. It was the team's first shutout at the JAR since a 6-0 victory over Niagara on Nov. 7, 2014 in which Blake Dougherty made 33 saves.

In the last six games, Antoni has a .935 save percentage and a 2.41 GAA while helping the team to wins over AIC and a sweep of RIT.

Record Extender: Gladiuk's goal was the 13^th game-winner of his career, extending the school record he already owns, and his 3^rd GW of the season. His other two came at Northeastern Oct. 16 and at RIT in overtime Nov. 14.

With his 61^st career goal, he moved past Dain Prewitt '09 and into 6^th place on the program's all-time list and 3^rd in the school's Division I era. The senior is also 2^nd among active NCAA players in goals, behind Harvard's Jimmy Vesey (63), and 4^th in career points (118).

Atlantic Hockey Ranks: French and Schmidt are both T-4th in Atlantic Hockey in points (14). French is T-4th in goals (7), behind a trio of Robert Morris players who all have 9 to lead the league. Gladiuk and Schmidt are T-7th in goals (6), and freshman defenseman Tanner Jago is T-5th in assists (9). 

Last Season vs. Niagara: The teams split a series at the JAR last season; a 6-0 Bentley win in the opener and a 3-2 Niagara victory in OT the next night. Bentley's victory saw a hat trick by Max French and a four point game for Gladiuk on one goal and three assists. Andrew McDonald and Alex Grieve also had two assists.

The Purple Eagles salvaged a series split the next night by winning in OT, with the Bentley goals coming from Derek Bacon and defenseman Steve Weinstein.

The 2013-14 series was played at the JAR as well; the teams tied the first game 2-2 and Niagara took the second game 5-3. The last series played at Dwyer Arena saw a Niagara sweep during the 2012-13 season.

Up Next: The Falcons close out the first half of the season next weekend with a series vs. Holy Cross at the JAR in the only two games of the season between the two rivals. The two teams split four games last season, with each team winning home and away once. It will be the 59^th and 60^th all-time meetings.
