Antoni, French Claim Atlantic Hockey Weekly Awards
WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Gabe Antoni (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) was named the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week and junior Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) the Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead Bentley to a sweep at RIT over the weekend.
Antoni was the winning goalie in both of the 3-2 overtime victories over the Tigers. On Friday night he came on in relief at the start of the 3rd period and made 13 saves in 24 minutes, including overtime. He started Saturday night as well and stopped 36 shots as Bentley completed the sweep. For the weekend, he saved 49 of 51 shots faced for a 1.41 GAA and .961 save percentage. It's the 1st time in his career he's been named Goalie of the Week.
French is Atlantic Hockey's Player of the Week for the 2nd time in three weeks and the 3rd time in his career. He had two goals on Friday night, including the winner in OT with 31 seconds remaining. His first goal of the game gave Bentley a 1-0 lead 6:15 into the 1st period. He also had an assist on Saturday's overtime goal, scored by Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo) 46 seconds into the extra session.
French has been on a tear since beginning his season with 10 points (6g, 4a) in five games to share the team lead.
Bentley returns to the ice on Friday night when they host Rensselaer at the JAR for a non-conference game.
