WATERTOWN, Mass. – Senior Isaac Kohls scored 55 seconds into overtime to give Niagara a 3-2 victory over Bentley Saturday night at Ryan Arena and salvage a split of the teams' Atlantic Hockey series.

Kohls banged in a loose puck in front of the net to give the Purple Eagles the victory, their first of the season. The Falcons drop to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in AHA play with the defeat.

Prior to the OT goal, all four goals were scored in the second period. Junior Hugo Turcotte put Niagara in front just 56 seconds into the frame. That snapped a streak of four straight scoreless periods for Falcons goalie Blake Dougherty (East Amherst, N.Y./Bay State), who nonetheless played another solid game and ended with 28 saves.

But Bentley's red hot power play knotted the score at 4:12 as junior Derek Bacon (Calgary, Alberta/Okotoks) got in on the act. Senior Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove) set the goal up with a slap shot from the point that Niagara goalie Jackson Teichroeb saved, but Bacon was in front of the net to deposit the rebound for the goal.

After the Purple Eagles went ahead 2-1 at 15:22 on a goal by forward Keegan Harper, Bentley tied it with yet another power play goal, this time from defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) at 17:24. Weinstein ripped a shot from the blue line that went in over Teichroeb's glove.

Neither team scored in the third frame as Bentley held a 7-6 advantage in shots, but neither team created any significant chances.

Bentley ended the night 2-2 on the man-advantage and is a gaudy 11-20 over the last six games.

Following this series, the Falcons continue their home stretch next weekend when they host Mercyhurst for a two game set beginning Friday night.
