WATERTOWN, Mass. – Junior Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) netted a hat trick to lead the Bentley University hockey team to a 4-1 win over Robert Morris in Atlantic Hockey action Friday night. Senior Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) also notched three assists to break the program's Division I record for career points.

The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 7:25 of the first period on a goal by freshman Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna Warriors) and never looked back in a convincing win, which extended their unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1).

Senior goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield) nearly had his second shutout of the year, only for a goal by Robert Morris with 16 seconds left that was given after a review denied him.

But the story of the night was both Grieve and Gensler. Grieve recorded his first career hat trick, while Gensler had an assist on each of his goals. The senior entered the night with 125 career points, needing two more to surpass the four-year old program Division I record for career points of 126, held by Dain Prewitt '09.

The record was tied on Grieve's first goal of the night, a power play goal at 8:35 of the second period to give Bentley a 2-0 lead. Gensler had the primary assist, feeding Grieve a pass from down low to where he was positioned in the slot.

Grieve then gave Bentley a 3-0 lead at 17:22 of the second with another power play goal, which Gensler had the secondary assist on to break the record. Defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) had the primary assist, his 16^th of the year.

Bentley then went up 4-0 at 8:33 of the third as Grieve completed the hat trick, one-timing a pass near the blue line, which Gensler fed him from the face-off circle on the opposite side of the ice.

The three goals upped Grieve's goal tally on the season to 12, and he's now scored in seven of the last eight games. The assists for Gensler took his career tally to 72 assists and 128 points.

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the first period as French and senior Justin Breton (Fitchburg, Mass./Boston Jr. Bruins) combined for the goal. Breton had the puck on the blue line along the boards, and as French dashed into the zone, Breton stayed with the play long enough to get his pass off in time to hit French in stride while absorbing a hit.

With the win, Bentley improves to 6-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in Atlantic Hockey. Robert Morris falls to 2-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Atlantic Hockey.
