WATERTOWN, Mass. – Sophomore Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) scored 2:21 into overtime to give the Bentley hockey team a dramatic 3-2 win over Holy Cross in Atlantic Hockey play at Ryan Skating Arena Saturday night.

Bentley went on the man-advantage just 22 seconds into the extra session, and its power play unit took advantage as Gladiuk scored the winner with just one second remaining on Holy Cross' penalty. It was a big weekend for the Bentley power play, as they accounted for two of the team's goals tonight and scored twice as well in last night's win over UConn.

Junior Alex Grieve's (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) had the assist on the goal, continuing his blistering start to the season. Gladiuk took advantage of a loose puck and scramble in front of the net to knock in the winner.

With the game tied 2-2 late in regulation, senior Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) appeared to score the winner for Bentley after a pile-up in front of the net, only for the officials to wave it off after a review.

After taking a 1-0 lead at 12:46 of the first period on a power play goal by Grieve, Bentley fell behind 2-1 in the second period as Holy Cross' Brett Lubanski scored at 6:40 and Adam Schmidt scored at 9:33. The Falcons continued to trail into the third period until defenseman Matt Maher (Avon, Conn./Westside Warriors) scored to tie it at 8:13.

Senior captain Jared Rickord (Skokie, Ill./Springfield Jr. Blues) led a break down the ice and found Maher trailing him. Maher then unleashed a wrist shot that went over the glove of Holy Cross goalie Matt Ginn and clanked in off the cross bar.

The two teams played to a stalemate for the first eight-plus minutes of the first period until Grieve's second power play goal in as many nights. The goal was similar to his last night at UConn, where defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) took a shot from the point, and Grieve was in front of the net to get his stick on it and chop it past Ginn.

Lubanski's goal came off a shot in the right face-off circle that got through traffic in front of the net and under the pads of Bentley goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon). Schmidt's goal came after he tipped in a shot from Mike Barrett in front of the net after Barrett wheeled around the goal to create space for himself and shot in the left face-off circle

Komm made 21 saves to earn the win.

Bentley improves to 3-2 in Atlantic Hockey with its second straight win, while the Crusaders drop their third straight and fall to 2-3 in league play. Bentley is off next weekend but returns to the ice the weekend of Nov. 29 for a two-game series at Air Force.
