Bentley Routs Canisius 7-2 for Series Sweep; Gladiuk, Breton and Campanelli Each Score Twice

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Bentley University exploded for four goals in the third period, turning a 3-2 game into a 7-2 rout, as the Falcons defeated Canisius College Saturday night at Ryan Arena to sweep their Atlantic Hockey series.
The game was tied 2-2 with under six minutes remaining in the second period, until freshman Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) scored his second of the night at 14:12 to put the Falcons up 3-2.
Bentley then went up 4-2 just 2:30 into the third period on junior Brett Gensler's (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) 12th goal of the campaign. Gensler received a pass on the left wing from Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla./Wichita Falls Wildcats) and ripped his shot under the glove of Canisius goalie Tony Capobianco.
That opened the floodgates as Bentley would score three more times in the next six-plus minutes. Junior Justin Breton (Fitchburg, Mass./Boston Jr. Bruins) scored at 5:43 to make it 5-2, followed by senior Joe Campanelli (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Westminster Prep) netting his second of the night at 7:56 to give the Falcons a 6-2 lead. Breton potted his second of the night and 11th of the season off a face-off win by Gladiuk at 8:53 to make it 7-2.
Gladiuk, who also scored a power play goal in the first period to give Bentley a 1-0 lead, had a four point night on two goals and two assists. Alex Kubiak (Tinley Park, Ill./Chicago Steel) and defenseman Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill) each had two assists as well.
Netminder Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) made 35 saves to earn his ninth win of the season, completing a solid weekend where posted a .940 save percentage.
Bentley, which rises to fourth in the standings after the weekend sweep, improves to 10-10-1 overall and 8-6-1 in Atlantic Hockey. Canisius falls to 8-11-5 overall and 7-6-2 in the conference.
The Falcons will next take on rival Holy Cross next weekend in a home-and-home series. Friday's game will take place at the Hart Center in Worcester, followed by the second game in Watertown.
