Bentley Crushes Alabama-Huntsville 9-1; Gladiuk & Breton Score Twice

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Bentley University tied a program Division I record with nine goals Friday night as they cruised to a 9-1 victory over Alabama-Huntsville in non-conference hockey at Ryan Skating Arena. Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, British Columbia/Nanaimo Clippers) and Justin Breton (Fitchburg, Mass./Boston Jr. Bruins) each had two goals.

The nine goals equals a program Division I record set twice during the 1999-2000 season, as Bentley improved to 2-1 on the season. The Chargers fall to 0-4-1.

Bentley led 2-0 after the first period on the first career goal by defenseman Kyle O'Brien (Tewksbury, Mass./Cushing Prep) at 12:03, and Gladiuk's first of the night at 19:54.

A goal by senior Joe Campanelli (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Westminster Prep) at 10:45 of the second, off a nice cross-ice feed from Breton, put the Falcons up 3-0. Huntsville got its only goal of the night from Jeff Vanderlught at 12:59 to cut the lead to 3-1, but the Falcons finished the period strong with goals from Dan Koudys (Grimsby, Ontario/Burlington Cougars) and Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the third period.

In addition to the big nights from Breton and Gladiuk, freshman Derek Bacon (Calgary, Alberta/Okotoks Oilers) had four points on a goal and three assists, scoring his first career goal in the third period. Senior Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla./Wichita Falls Wildcats) had three assists.

Bentley will look to take the momentum from this game into Saturday night's tilt at Harvard, which gets started at 7:00 from the Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge.
