RIT Rallies in Third to Tie Bentley 3-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Seniors Andrew Favot and Sean Murphy scored third period goals as RIT rallied to earn a 3-3 tie against Bentley University Saturday night at Ritter Arena in Atlantic Hockey action.

After a scoreless first period, the Falcons erupted for three goals in the second period to take a 3-1 advantage into the third.

Senior Dustin Cloutier (Berkley, Mich./Mahoning Valley Phantoms) got the scoring started with a short-handed tally 5:45 in, his fifth goal of the season.

A little less than eight minutes passed before the next goal was scored, but three were scored in a span of less than three minutes.

Favot, who had two goals on the evening for his second straight two-goal game, tied the contest at 13:39 on the power play. Senior Erik Peterson (Shorewood, Minn./Sioux Falls Stampede)  put Bentley back in front at 15:59 with his team-best seventh goal of the year, and sophomore Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla./Wichita Falls Wildcats) scored just 20 seconds later to make it 3-1 for the visitors.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, that was the last time they found the back of the net. Favot cut Bentley's lead to one, four minutes into the final period, and Murphy knotted it up at 6:08.

Senior Joe Calvi (New Lenox, Ill./New England Jr. Huskies) made 35 saves for Bentley, while sophomore Shane Madolora stopped 28 shots for RIT.

With the draw, Bentley's record goes to 5-11-4 overall and 4-8-3 in Atlantic Hockey, and RIT goes to 12-8-4 on the year and 11-3-3 in the conference.

The Falcons are back at home this weekend for a two-game series against Mercyhurst beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
