2nd-Place Finish by Simione Helps Bentley Finish 3rd in FPU Fall Invitational

KEENE, N.H. –Bentley University senior co-captain Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./ Cheshire HS) fired a one-under 71 during Monday's second round and finished the season-opening Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational in second place.

Simione shot even par during the two-day event with his 73-71-144 putting him just a stroke back of the medalist, Southern New Hampshire's Matt Paradis (73-70-143). The two had begun the second round tied for second, three strokes back. While Simione birdied two of the final three holes to draw close, Paradis made a 15-footer for birdie on his final hole to capture the title.

A strong second day, led by Simione and junior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS), helped Bentley finish third of 11 overall, an improvement of two places from their standing at the start of the day. The Falcons' second-round 296 was the second best score during Monday's play.

Bentley posted a two-day score of 310-296-606 and finished nine strokes back of the co-champions, Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce.

Falconer had an outstanding second round, a three-under 69 that was the tournament's best score and included four birdies.  It vaulted him from 21st to a tie for fifth in the standings with a 79-69-148.

Bentley's number three finisher was sophomore Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), who tied for 24th with a 75-80-155.

The next tournament for the Falcons is the American International Invitational Sept. 22-23.
