Bentley Finishes Day 1 of NCAA Regional Tied for 14th; Falcons Led by Ethier

DANIELS, W.V. – Led by freshman Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), the Bentley University Falcons finished the opening day of the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Men's Golf Regional in a tie for 14th place. A total of 20 teams are participating in the three-day event at The Resort at Glade Springs.

Bentley posted a team score of 304, putting the Falcons 14 strokes back of leader St. Thomas Aquinas and 13 strokes outside of the top three. Three teams will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held in Alabama later in the month.

Ethier matched his season stroke average with a 39-35-74, a round that included two birdies and four bogeys. That put him in a tie for 27th in a field of 108 players.

Next on the leaderboard for the Falcons was senior Chris Ehl (Reading, Mass,/Reading HS), who rebounded from bogeys on each of the first three holes to finish with a three-over 75, good for a tie for 39th. His day included birdies on the par-five fifth, the par-four 11th and the par-three 17th.

Bentley also received a 76 from senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS), a 79 from junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and an 80 from junior Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland HS).

The individual leaders after the first 18 are Ryan Rucinski of Wilmington (Del.) and Harrison Laskey of Mercyhurst, both of whom carded a three-under 69.

After playing the morning session during the opening round, Bentley will tee off in the afternoon Tuesday, beginning at noon.
